Your Local Charleston Painting Company
We’re Travis and Laice, owners of ColorCraft. We paint homes across Charleston, and you work directly with us, not a sales team, from your first call to the final walkthrough.
Charleston homes ask a lot of a painter, from 19th-century single houses with long piazzas to 1920s bungalows and newer homes on Daniel Island. Careful prep is what makes the work last.
- Painting In Charleston
Painting Historic And Modern Charleston Homes
Many downtown homes sit inside the City’s historic districts, where the Board of Architectural Review (BAR) reviews exterior changes visible from the street. Paint color changes are usually handled at staff level and may require a test patch, while painting previously unpainted masonry goes to the full Board.
Charleston’s humid subtropical climate is hard on exteriors too. Summer is the wettest season, so we plan exterior work around the weather and prep every surface properly first.

Travis, the owner of ColorCraft Painters, LLC, was great to work with. For being such a young man, he came across as if he had 20 years of experience behind him. And then, his crew that worked on my house was very courteous, efficient and extremely professional. They wouldn't even allow us to move anything out of our lanai or off the front porch. Thay even took the string lighting down from both and put itback up. Not even one bulb broken. They were just absolutely FANTASTIC. The paint job itself is amazing, especially compared to what it looked like beforehand. I could only find one photo with any of the house and it was above our garage. I think you can see the obvious difference. And the two-tone you see in the before pic isn't from the 8 years we've been in this home. It was like that at about the 2 year mark, think maybe the contractor watered down the cheap contractor paint? Anyway, the rest of the pics speak for themselves. I would strongly recommend ColorCraft Painters, LLC.+5Posted on Google![]()

One of the first things I was impressed with ColorCraft is their communication! From obtaining a quote to finishing the job, they were spot on with timing and letting us know what’s going on throughout the process. They did an exceptional job painting our fence and leaving the job site better than they found it. I wish they did other types of project because I would hire them for it all. We will be returning customers for all of our painting needs. HIGHLY recommend to our friends and family!+1Posted on Google![]()

The ColorCraft team is outstanding. They refreshed our 2300sq ft home with top quality paint. They had the work done in 5 days. They came early and worked until 6. We had a lot of prep work to do and they were meticulous and conscientious in taping, covering our stuff, and painting everything. The communication was outstanding, every morning I received a text about the work to be done. I love how beautiful my home looks! If you are looking to repaint interior or exterior, call Travis at ColorCraft, you’ll be glad you did!+2Posted on Google![]()

- Charleston Painting FAQs
Questions We Get Asked
Do I need BAR approval to paint my house in downtown Charleston?
If your home is in one of the City’s historic districts and the change is visible from the street, a new paint color usually needs Board of Architectural Review approval, typically at staff level, and a test patch may be required. Painting brick or other masonry that was never painted goes to the full Board. Check with the City of Charleston before choosing new colors.
Do you paint homes in West Ashley, James Island and Daniel Island?
Yes. We paint homes across Charleston, including the peninsula, West Ashley, James Island and Daniel Island. Call (803) 814-5127 to check your neighborhood.
Can you paint piazzas, porches and railings?
Yes. Porches, piazzas, railings, columns and shutters are part of most exterior projects we do in Charleston, and we prep them carefully because they take the most weather.
Do you offer free estimates in Charleston?
Yes. We come out to your home in Charleston, walk through the project with you and give you a clear, detailed estimate with no hidden fees.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. ColorCraft is licensed and fully insured, and we back our workmanship with a 5-year warranty.
When is the best time to paint a house exterior in Charleston?
Spring and fall typically bring the mildest weather. Summer is Charleston’s wettest season, so we plan exterior work around heat and afternoon storms.
